Turn-Based Tactical RPGs
The traditional pillars of the genre. Combat is dictated by an action-order timeline. Success relies entirely on pre-combat roster setup, elemental counters, and skill sequencing rather than twitch reflexes.
Action RPGs (ARPG)
Real-time combat where positioning, dodging (i-frames), and combo executions matter. Players typically control one hero at a time, hot-swapping between a team of 3-4 to trigger elemental reactions or chain attacks.
Idle / AFK RPGs
Designed to respect the player's time. Teams auto-battle continuously in the background, farming resources even when the app is closed. Progression is locked behind "combat power" checks rather than active strategy.
Hero Tower Defense
A hybrid genre where collectible heroes serve as the "towers" on a grid map. Players must deploy them strategically to block waves of enemies. Directional facing and attack ranges are vital mechanics.
